Kevan Cameron is a soccer player and spoken word artist living in Burnaby, British Columbia.
He has represented Canada at the Under 23, and Under 20 level and has also played professionally for the Vancouver Whitecaps.
He was born in Edmonton and grew up in the neighbouring hockeytown of Sherwood Park, Alberta.
He never played hockey, but participated in soccer at the collegiate, professional, and international levels in Canada.
He sometimes compares playing soccer in Canada to playing hockey in Jamaica.
Although the situation is not quite that severe, the passion that is felt almost universally for soccer around the world is decidedly missing in Canada.
One of the reasons Cameron wants to go to Africa is to experience first hand soccer culture in a country where passion and love for the beautiful game is exceptional.
